The workshop will provide an overview of a social skill instructional model developed by Dr. Bellini. The workshop integrates research on socialemotional functioning with effective strategies for teaching social skills to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The five-step model provides a systematicand comprehensive framework to guide parents and practitioners in the development and implementation of social skills programming.

Parent's Rights in the Special Education Process
Join us for an interactive discussion on parent's rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004. Participants will learn about the six components of a Free Appropriate Public Education. Timelines under IDEA as well as the evaluation, referral and testing process will be explained. Participants will also learn commonly used terminology and how to use the information included in the Evaluation Team Report
Part 2 – 12:30 – 3:00 p.m.
Understanding and Writing an IEP
Join us as Sandy Brickner breaks down the components of an IEP and explains the documentation necessary to develop an IEP. Discussion will focus on who is required to be involved in the development of an IEP and what the parent and school roles are in the process. Each section of the IEP will be reviewed with an explanation of what information is required by IDEA 2004 and what needs to be recorded in the various IEP sections.
Lunch provided. Registration fee is $10 per session or $15 for the day.
