Since it was established in 1972, the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio has been an organization made up of people of all ages with Down syndrome, parents of children with Down syndrome, professionals and health care providers—all working together to ensure that all individuals in our community living with Down syndrome have every opportunity to achieve their full individual potential.
As a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, we are committed to providing support, assistance and education to individuals with Down syndrome and their families in 15 Ohio counties. We operate with minimal staff and are grateful for the many who volunteer their time to promote our mission. In most cases, our volunteers have a loved one with Down syndrome. They understand better than anyone the joys and challenges of raising and caring for them.
Whether an employee, volunteer or member, we strongly believe that by providing easy-to-access information along with compassionate and caring support, we can help families and the community gain a better understanding of what Down syndrome is and how it affects more than 400,000 people in the United States diagnosed with the condition.
By encouraging awareness and acceptance, the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio is doing its part to improve the lives of all individuals with Down syndrome and the lives of those who care for them.
